Saruni Samburu - Samburu, Kenya

Sergio Pitamitz at Saruni

  • pitamitz6

Sergio Pitamitz, National Geographic Creative Photographer, has just finished his annual workshop at Saruni lodges. One of the most memorable moments happened even before his guests arrived: Sergio placed camera traps around the waterhole at Saruni Samburu and captured some amazing images which are now making their way to the best wildlife magazines of the world.

In his diary, Sergio wrote: “Yesterday I set up the trap in a new position to try a different shot but this morning when I opened the box I found the cables connecting the camera to the flash trigger chewed by an unknown insect! And the box in a different position, probably moved by baboons. I repaired the cable, so cross fingers for this night!” He was rewarded by the leopard image, below, among others.

Photographing the amazing wildlife in the Masai Mara, especially in North Mara Conservancy, another memorable page in his diary went like this: “the lions can walk really close to your open vehicle here in the Mara, watch this video
